About BC Chess Masters

Who we are

BC Chess Masters is a non-profit run by active members of the competitive chess scene looking to bring about change and growth to the greater chess community. We organize CFC-rated chess tournaments in British Columbia for higher-rated players, played at classical time controls.

Our mission

BC Chess Masters was founded with one goal: to help grow the chess community in British Columbia. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and developing chess across the province.

BC is home to some of Canada's strongest chess players, and we want to provide them with more opportunities to compete, improve, and challenge themselves. Whether you're a titled player looking for strong competition, an aspiring master working toward norms, or a newer player aiming to climb the ranks, our tournaments are designed to help players of all levels reach their goals.

Every dollar earned from our events is either reinvested into future tournaments or donated to organizations that directly support and strengthen the chess community.

What we do differently

• Host invitational events in narrow rating sections, so every player gets a full weekend of even games.
• 100% of earnings reinvested into chess in BC
• Sections carefully designed for norms, elite competition and rating opportunities.

Upcoming events

BC Elite Invitational 1 is our first event. We hope to hold many more events in the future for the BC chess community if this one is well received!
